Advanced alpine training to progress in the skills and experience needed to climb independently in alpine terrain

HOW DIFFICULT WILL THE TRIP BE?

You should be confident and well practiced in the skills descried in the beginners alpine course

WHAT LEVEL OF PHYSICAL FITNESS DO I NEED?

To participate you should have the fitness to be active (walking uphill and climbing ) for 6 to 8 hours ( with breaks)

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON EACH DAY?

This is a example itinerary, changes can occur due to weather skill level of group and location

Evening before course:  Meet, check gear and any other concerns.

Day 1:  Easy outdoor rock climbing venue to reverse all rope skills from the beginners course and introduce some more advanced techniques. Afternoon walk into the first hut.

Day 2: Glacial skill refresher and training for steeper ice techniques, sleeping in the same hut. 

Day 3 - 6 each day will involve a complex alpine route, afternoons will be used for planning and evaluation.

WHAT DOES THIS PRICE INCLUDE?

Guiding fee is calculated a 350 per day ( this split between the group, maximum number of participates is 5)
This price includes:
guiding fees every day
The ropes used during the course

This fee does not include:
Hut or hotel fees for the guests and the guide which will be paid by the guest
Lunch dinner water
Other material required such as harnesses, clothing.

What Will I Learn 

This is the perfect course to become a fully independent alpinist. The main progression from the beginners course is moving and climbing in steeper and more complex alpine terrain.  You will learn; 

  • Advanced crampon technics for complex terrain steep ice slopes (50 degrees) and mixed ice and rock terrain.
  • A review of crevasse rescue, and self arrest essential for glacial travel
  • Rope techniques for steep ice, rock and mixed terrain
  • Advanced navigation, weather and planning skills

The practice will take place in an agreed location previous couses have been run in The Ecrins, Chamonix, Austria. 
There will be a mixture of camping and huts and a plan will be developed to maximise the days spent in the mountains
