FreeRide - Steep or Deep?

With the first snow falling in the Alps, people ask me what freeride is and if it is skiing very steep slopes?

How steep do we have to ski to have fun? To be honest, it's personal! But although we see a lot of steep ski movies in the media, many skiers enjoy the lesser steep terrain, which also reduces the risk of avalanches...  Like this example, on the Vallee Blanche above Chamonix. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDiRk5z6vuo

FreeRide is not defined by the steepness....but by the terrein you ski. Un-groomed, away from the slopes. But in the nature, the mountains, making your own tracks and skiing in powder. Try it!!
